“Turn Around, Bright Eyes”

If you recognize the title of this blog post from the 80’s hit song “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” then you are likely old enough to benefit from Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch.

This is not your average concealer.

YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch is best described as a brightener.

It could be called a highlihgter, but it is not shimmery or glittery.  YSL says it contains “light-infused” pigments” that give skin a healthy, natural glow.

I like to say that it brightens all the darker, shadowy places on my face.  It has SO many uses, but here are a few of my favorite places to use YSL Touche Eclat.

BRIGHTEN DARK CIRCLES

The skin around the eyes is difficult territory.  You want to hide the dark circles without piling on thick products that will accentuate wrinkles.  You want to add light to the area without a bunch of glitter and sparkle.  This product does it all.

It covers and brings light to the eye area WITHOUT saying, “Hey, everybody, look at these wrinkles I’ve highlighted.  Look right here where my skin is sparkly.”

This YSL product is a liquidy, similar to a thin foundation, packaged in a click-pen applicator.  After experimenting with it, I was able to get it to work it’s magic for me.  Try blending with a small sponge, concealer brush or fingertips and see what works best for you.

Here’s what I do:  Using the brush on the tip on the pen, I dab the color around my eyes, and a little goes a long way.  Then I let it sit there for about 30 seconds or so, letting it dry a bit which makes it easier to work with.  Then I use a small synthetic concealer brush, not the brush on the pen, to blend into perfect coverage.  I don’t use it from brow bone to cheek bone, that’s too much.  I use just enough to cover the dark circles and brighten the area.

LESSEN EYE BAGS

Apply Touche Eclat UNDER an eye bag, NOT on top of the bag.  You will be shocked by how this eliminates the shadow under the eye bag.  By bringing light to the area, it lessens the look and severity of the eye bag!

HIGHLIGHT BROW BONES

Use it on your cheek bones, collar bones, wherever you want to add light.

YSL Touche eclat is a perfect way to highlight any area of your face without adding shimmer or sparkle. One of my favorite places to use it is on my brow bones.  Wearing white, sparkly eye shadow on your brow bone is aging.  It’s a dated look, and it’s not flattering.  This is much softer, while still bringing light to the area.

LESSEN SMILE LINES

I prefer “smile lines” to “marionette lines” — you know the area I’m talking about.  Adding light to this shadowed area lessens the appearance of those lines!  I was skeptical, thinking the makeup would just gather in the wrinkle and look cakey.  Nope!  I apply and then sort of tap the makeup in.  Viola!  A brighter look!

MAKE LIPS LOOK FULLER

In the picture above, you can see where I’ve labeled the Cupid’s Bow.  Highlighting that part of your top lip can actually make your lips look fuller!  As we age, we lose volume, and color, in our lips.  Touche Eclat increases the color contrast between the lips and the face.  It also highlights the area, bringing it forward.

Touche Eclat helps achieve the optical illusion of fullness.

Like it says in that old, 80’s song: “Every now and then I fall apart.”  Like when I look in the mirror at my aging eyes.   Touche Eclat helps, though.  I recommend trying it, and I hope it gives you those bright eyes from Bonnie Tyler’s song.
(Which I can not stop singing now.)
