Aren’t we all forever searching for that one perfect foundation?   Finding foundations over 50 can be especially tricky.

I’m not sure there is just *one.*  I use different foundation for different needs– some dewy, some matte, some sheer, some full coverage.

This is my “capsule wardrobe” of foundations.

Flower Get Real Serum foundation is like comfort food for my face.  It has so many skin healthy ingredients, like olive oil.  My skin feels so hydrated and happy when I wear this.

It provides very sheer coverage, and it is very dewy.  This is my “everyday” foundation because it’s good for my skin and provides just enough coverage to even my skin tone.  I love the glowy look!

Here’s another serum foundation I love, L’Oreal Visible Lift Serum Absolute.  The best word for this foundation is “velvety.”  It provides medium coverage that’s not exactly matte and not exactly dewy.  It evens skin tone, blurs imperfections, and has a sort of satin finish.

With some heavy-hitting anti-aging skincare ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Pro-Retinol A, Pro-Xylane, Pro-Lastyl and Vitamin C, this serum claims to actually be helping improve your skin when you wear it.

Maybelline Superstay Full Coverage

When I want full coverage, this is what I reach for.  Beautiful coverage that’s not cakey or chalky looking.  I absolutely love this foundation, and have actually received compliments on my skin when I’m wearing it.

It’s matte, without looking flat.

I have been using the 24 hour formula, but I have seen Maybelline upped the time to 30 hours in a newer formula!

I have two Wet n Wild Photofocus foundations because one is matte and one is dewy.  Both are fantastic!  Seriously, I can’t believe how amazing these are, and at such a low price.

The dewy formula will not make you look shiny.   The finish is very natural, and the coverage is medium.

The matte formula is also medium coverage, maybe a little closer to full than the dewy.   The matte is long-lasting, giving flawless coverage all day long.

Update: 10/25/2021

I’m updating this list to add the L’Oreal True Match Hyaluronic Tinted Serum.   When I first saw that the price was $20 for a drugstore foundation, I almost didn’t buy it.  But I had heard such great reviews I just couldn’t resist.  So glad I bought it!

This foundation is worth every penny!

This feels so light on my skin!  The hyaluronic acid is so hydrating without feeling like you’re wearing a moisturizer.  The coverage is medium, and the finish looks like skin!

I mean, my skin tones looks even, wrinkles are plumped, and my skin looks glowy.  Not greasy…healthy glowy.  It does a great job of not creasing and gathering in wrinkles.

This is perfect for everyday wear.

My best foundations over 50 tip…

My best foundation tip is:  Mix it up!  I have used matte foundations on the oily parts of my face, AND a dewy on on dry parts.  Heavy matte foundation under my eyes just makes me look older, but a dewy one works great.   Dewy foundation over my big pores is a no-no, but the matte is just right.

Blend everything out and you’ve created a flawless complexion!
